Guided Choices 2024
Information for students:
For the first time in your school life, you are now able to make a choice about the curriculum that you will study. In KS4 you are able to select subjects that you enjoy and which you are likely to succeed in. We would advise you to keep breadth and balance within your choices by selecting subjects from a broad range of curriculum areas such as: languages, humanities, technology and the arts. You will continue to study english language, english literature, mathematics, science, PE, and religion and world views. PE and religion and world views are non-examined subjects. They contain essential skills and understanding about key issues relating the world around you, your health and well-being.
Information for parents and guardians:
Your child will be placed on a bespoke pathway that will guide them to make choices that are the most appropriate for them. Please consider the subject choices carefully when supporting your child through the process to ensure their eventual success at the end of Year 11. It is also worth taking into consideration what students might like to do at the end of Year 11. It might be beneficial for some students who aspire to take certain courses at college or university to study for the English Baccalaureate. All subjects will be examined at the end of Year 11, although some subjects may have aspects of the final grade assessed through control assessments during Year 10 and Year 11.
