Ofsted Report
Update - March 2025
We are pleased to share our latest Ofsted report, following the inspection that took place on the 21st and 22nd January 2025. This was an ungraded inspection, and as a result our Ofsted grade remains ‘good’.
Ofsted recognised the care and support that our staff provide for students; they highlighted the positive relationships formed between students and staff, the safe environment in which students learn and the high expectations we hold for their achievement and behaviour. Inspectors also praised our careers provision, stating that students appreciate the ‘excellent’ guidance and opportunities to help them prepare for their futures. Furthermore, they acknowledged the impact of our literacy initiatives that inspire a love of reading among our students, and the work we do to support students with special educational needs.
In February 2024, following our first 30 days as part of Great Heights Academy Trust, the Trust wrote to parents outlining the immediate operational priorities, which included securing improved safeguarding arrangements, further improving pupil behaviour and attendance, responding to and addressing parental concerns, clarifying leadership structures, and developing a bespoke communication strategy. Following the robust support and challenge provided over the last year, by an interim local governing body and a dedicated leadership team from the Trust, we are pleased that Ofsted has now recognised the progress we have made in these areas. The report highlights that attendance has improved across all cohorts, that safeguarding arrangements are effective, and that recent behaviour systems are beginning to have a positive impact. While there is still work to be done, including addressing the negative behaviour of some students outside of lessons, reviewing communication with families and ensuring greater consistency in curriculum delivery, the report confirms that we are moving in the right direction.
We appreciate the continued support of parents and carers as we work together to ensure our stuents can thrive academically and personally. As part of Great Heights Academy Trust, we are determined to achieve excellence together and build a school that our students, staff and the wider community can be truly proud of.
