Safeguarding & Wellbeing

Safeguarding & Child Protection

Colne Valley High School is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We have effective safeguarding procedures in place to support our entire school community of students, families and staff, including robust checks to ensure that all staff and volunteers are suitable to work with children within the academy.

We encourage parents and children to talk freely about any concerns or worries which may affect their wellbeing; it important to us that students and families see the school as a safe place. Any concerns raised are referred to our trained designated safeguarding leads.

We are a Kirklees ‘Operation Encompass’ School
As part of a range of work to tackle domestic violence and abuse, Kirklees Children’s services, West Yorkshire Police and schools across the area have developed a process to provide better support to children affected by domestic violence.

The Kirklees process will involve notifying schools and educational establishments when one of their pupils has been present at an incident of domestic violence where the police have attended.
