Home School Professional Standards 2024-25

The Colne Valley home school professional standards for students, school,
parents and carers have our RITA values at their core. Our professional
standards aim to foster a positive and productive school community for all.
Students, school, parents and carers should uphold these professional
standards; ensuring we are ‘Achieving Excellence Together’
- Respect for Self: take pride in wearing the CVHS uniform and school
badge, use appropriate language, and are respectful in their chosen actions. - Respect for Others: treat peers, teachers, and staff with courtesy,
kindness, and consideration. - Respect for Property: care for school property and the belongings of others.
- Respect for Diversity: value and appreciate differences in backgrounds,
cultures, and perspectives. - Honesty: recognise and reward students who show integrity and are
truthful in their words and actions. - Rewarding students who show integrity.
- Accountability: embed a culture of modelling how to take responsibility for
one’s own actions with warmth. Challenging poor attendance. - Fairness: ensure that each student has the opportunities, support and
guidance achieve his/her full potential. Staff will have high expectations
of all students and challenge uniform and equipment standards. - Even when: embed our morals and courage students to do the right thing
even when nobody is watching. - Collaboration: work with peers to achieve common goals, respecting each
team member’s contributions. - Communication: actively listen and communicate effectively with others,
both verbally and non-verbally. - Reliability: be dependable team members who fulfil their commitments
and responsibilities. - Conflict Resolution: approach conflicts and challenges with an open mind
and work towards positive solutions. - Goal Setting: set challenging yet achievable academic and personal goals.#
- Perseverance: demonstrate determination and resilience in overcoming
obstacles and setbacks. - Continuous Improvement: seek opportunities for growth and strive for
excellence in all opportunities. - Positive Attitude: maintain a positive outlook and encourage others to do
the same, creating a supportive and aspirational school community.
- Respect for School Policy: Support the schools’ implementation of the
consequence and rewards system as laid out in the positive behaviour for
learning policy. - Respect for Others: Encourage the use of good manners, kindness and
consideration. - Respect for Diversity: encourage the appreciation of differences in
backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives. - Praise: Give praise at home for positive behaviours and aspirational
attitudes to learning at school. - Fairness: Engage with the Academy staff in an appropriate manner.
- Accountability and honesty: Encourage my child to take responsibility for
their actions and be truthful at all times. - Even when: Promote the importance of doing the right thing, even when

Making sure my child wears the correct uniform every day and comes to
school with the necessary equipment and books in readiness for learning. - Communication: Make every effort to make sure that my child attends
school every day and on time. Inform the school before 9am about any
absence and the reason for it. - Supportiveness: Avoid taking my child on holiday during term time and
support the school in attending parents’ evening, and school events. - Personal Development: Encourage my child to participate in any careers,
extra-curricular or enrichment opportunities offered by the Academy. - Excellence: Encourage my child to work hard, have high aspirations and
support them with their learning and progress. Promoting the importance
of setting the foundation for future success. - Positive Attitude: Encourage your child to have a positive attitude towards
school and their learning, supporting our vision for an aspirational school
community

inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students, welcoming
students with warmth. - Respect for School Policy: implement the Academy’s behaviour for

and do their best to support with positive resolutions. - Problem-Solving: Staff will support students with and model how to
approach challenges and conflicts with a solution-oriented mindset,
working collaboratively to find positive resolutions. - Personal Development: Staff will ensure opportunities for personal growth
and development through both the curriculum and social skills. Rewarding
aspirational students. - Excellence: Staff will strive for excellence in their teaching, leadership,
and support roles, consistently seeking to improve their students’
academic performance, providing an enriched curriculum which challenges
and motivates students. - Inspiration: Staff will inspire and motivate students and colleagues by
demonstrating passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to education. - Positive Attitude: Staff will maintain and model positive attitudes to
students, creating a culture of belonging and aspiration for all.
