Achievement Reports

Achievement Reports

The Achievement Reporting process is our cycle of reporting subject assessment data to parents.

Our Achievement Reporting process aims to:

  • Use reliable and valid assessments that test whether students are meeting the demands of our curriculum
  • Provide timely data to students, parents and teachers that can be used to support and challenge our young people to improve.

Achievement Reports at Key Stage 3

At Key Stage 3, Students are assessed against the Core Concepts identified in each subject’s Curriculum Intent documents. These concepts outline what students need to understand to move onto the next stage of learning. Assessments are designed to test these Core Concepts, at the appropriate point in the curriculum.

At Achievement Report Period 1, subject areas will report an Attitude to Learning (ATL grade).

At each Achievement Report Periods 2 and 3, subject areas will report whether students are meeting expectations in those assessments with the following average grade; Working Towards, Expected, and Greater Depth.

Achievement Reports at Key Stage 4

Year 10:
In Year 10, students will sit assessments in their subjects during two-week assessment windows. At each Achievement Review Point, subject areas will report a current grade and a predicted range.
In the summer term of Year 10, students will sit summer assessments across most subjects. These exams will be used to report a current GCSE grade during the last Achievement reporting period of the academic year.
Teachers will also report an Attitude to Learning (ATL grade).

Year 11: In Year 11, we will continue to report GCSE current grades and predicted grades to parents across all three of our Achievement Reporting periods.
Teachers will also report an Attitude to Learning (ATL grade).

Attitude to Learning
This is the way we assess and monitor how students approach their studies in line with the academy’s values. An attitude to learning grade is reported at each cycle.

Grade descriptors:

  • Excellent
  • Good
  • Improvement needed
  • Disengaged

If there is a descriptor of ‘Improvement needed’ or ‘Disengaged’ in a subject area you will also see a Values Focus Area (VFA), this will information highlights the RITA value the teacher would like to improve e.g., Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, or Aspiration.

Key Stage 3 Grade descriptors:

Working towards – students who are working within the programme of study for their age but require regular and significant additional support.

Expected – students who are working securely within the programme of study for their age.

Greater depth – students with a deeper level of understanding of objectives from their programme of study.

Key stage 4 information:

Current grade – the grade a student is currently working at. This is an average of robust assessments students have sat throughout the course up to now. Current grades should not factor in how a student might perform in later assessments.

Predicted grade – the grade a student is predicted to achieve at the end of the course. Predicted grades factor in student’s performance in assessments alongside teacher professional judgement, including historic subject grade boundaries, to forecast a final grade at the end of the course. This will also consider contextual factors, such as attendance, attitude to learning and the difficulty of the remaining curriculum.

Predicted range (Y10 only) – the range of grades a student is likely to achieve within at the end of the course based on current performance and teacher professional judgement considering contextual factors. The ranges are 1-3, 4-6, and 7-9 for GCSE and U, L1P-D, L2 P-M and L2 D-D* for KS4 vocational. The ranges are E-D, C-B, A-A* for A level and U, P-M and D-D* for level 3 vocational single and U, PP-MM, DM-D*D* for vocational double.
