Principal's latest letter to Parents
10th March 2020
I’m sure that you have heard the tragic news involving a teenager yesterday. Our staff, students, governors and myself are deeply saddened. News like this is difficult to share and affects us all in different ways. You too will have been affected as parents/carers. At this time, we need to be sensitive and supportive of each other and we need to be respectful in the way we talk about this tragedy including on social media.
The teenager’s family, friends, teachers and year group need our support at this most challenging time. They will also need our continued support in the weeks and months ahead. Our sincere condolences and sympathy go to his family.
Please be reassured that, as a school, we will provide emotional support for all those affected. All staff and a dedicated specialist team of counsellors, child protection and safeguarding leads, wellbeing staff and the school nurse will work collaboratively with both students and staff throughout the year. In addition, the Kirklees Psychological and Outreach Services are supporting the school.
Staff or students who have suffered a loss or bereavement of their own are likely to find it difficult to cope at this distressing time. We ask you as parents/carers to work with us, alerting us to any symptoms of distress your child may display. We have set up a dedicated email account for this purpose: firstname.lastname@example.org
For anyone affected by the recent tragic event, assistance, help or advice can be sought from the external agencies below as well as the school.
Thanking you in anticipation of your support over the coming months.
Mr J Christian
